Apply to sell branded used books
I NEED HELP! I have many books that I need to "apply to sell" One of the documents required is to "Show the combined purchase of at least 10 units" What does that mean? Do I need to buy 10 units every time a different approval to sell a used book is required? Thank you

"Do I need to buy 10 units every time a different approval to sell a used book is required?"
As a used bookseller, you probably have realized buying 10 new copies of a book in order to sell your one used copy probably is not practical, unless you quite often sell used books from that particular publisher.
Those books whose publishers, in collaboration with Amazon, demand multi-book purchases and invoices, can be sold elsewhere with no such requirements.

Hello @Seller_aJzA13bSPdw8K,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team and I am happy to assist.
Can you provide a bit more context to your question or describe where you are hitting this requirement? OR, if you have a case ID that provides all the relevant info, please provide that ID here and I can definitely take a look.
What you posted here sounds like a step in the Apply to sell a product, category, or brand Seller University video, but I do not want to assume that is what you are experiencing.
Happy to assist further wherever I am able.
Best, Dougal

Hi @Seller_lgiukd8RpudNH,
That is what I assumed as well, specifically focused on the ability to sell used books, but it is great to have you validate that.
I have not yet received a response from my contact, but sent another follow up earlier today after @Seller_pP1WLqRuXala5's response to the thread.
I will keep you posted and I am sorry that it is taking so long.

There are two problems with this response. First, the book is not "refurbished," a category that does not apply to books. Second, this is not a "Collectible" as far as the book trade is concerned. It's simply a used book, although one in excellent condition. I doubt many genuine collectibles are being sold on Amazon.

please be careful not to confuse the discussion ...
we are not talking about the default request to "Request approval" ....
we are talking about the requirement of an invoice when requesting approval to sell used books and when needing to prove ownership of one's own inventory of used books
** you are welcome to start a new thread if you have problems with the default response on the selling application page

What do you mean, "We are not talking about the default request to 'Request Approval'?" The screen grab above specifically refers to obtaining approval. Part of the approval process seems to involve the need to provide an invoice for one's inventory. That would make sense for a distributor or a midsize bookstore,, which buys multiple copies of a single book. I have ONE copy to sell.

Hello @Seller_lgiukd8RpudNH,
I can jump in here to clarify a bit. Although this is a pretty complicated issue as I am finding out while researching. The topic of the original post is, Why are Sellers hitting this invoice requirement to sell used books, when the Step-by-step guide for how to sell books online in 2025 provides a list of suggestions to source that would NOT provide invoices and in a lot of cases receipts (Yard sales, Estate sales, Thrift shops just to name a few). In addition, the general invoice requirement is 10 units.
The screen shot you shared is the beginning of the process to create a selling application to sell a Brand.
These are different questions, but can be interconnected depending on the specifics.
As for the the book and screenshot you shared, You were declined to sell the Brand "TOR BOOKS," which owns the ISBN and that is why you have been unable to list.
I will be happy to investigate further, but since this is where the books listing issue parts ways, please start a new discussion and any case ID's you can provide on your selling application for the brand you include would certainly help.
I look forward to continue working with you on this.

Hi @Seller_pP1WLqRuXala5,
Would you be comfortable providing me the Shipment ID of the screenshot you provided earlier in the thread.
I have completed my dive into what I thought was the most likely scenario and while I have a few more books contacts in my back pocket, that investigation did not provide a complete answer to the invoice issue.
My next focus ill be FBA/inventory specific to hopefully get to the actual question of why ask for invoices on used books....
I know this has been a long investigation, but please stick with me...

It's pretty straightforward, there are three steps that always lead nowhere for the seller.

All I have is the Order ID:
Order Details
Ordered on October 1, 2024 Order# 111-5568036-5773042

I guess that's my question though. One seems to follow from the other. Are these two unrelated issues or one? And my first question would be Why was my request to sell TOR books declined? Also, TOR isn't the first publisher to have done this. And it has even occurred with older, second-hand books. Obviously, there's something more to this picture.

Can you provide a link for doing that? I went to Seller Central and can find no link that would allow my to contact Seller Support or open a case. Amazon seems to enjoy making simple things difficult.
