High refund amount

Hi everyone,

I recently noticed an unusual refund on one of my orders and wanted to check if anyone else has experienced something similar or if Amazon has provided any explanations for this kind of issue.

I sold a product for £9.99 (including VAT), but Amazon issued a £94.98 refund for this single item. The order details show only one unit was purchased, and the refund amount is far greater than the total order value.

Order Value: £9.99 (VAT inclusive)

Refund Issued: £94.98

Product: Knee Pads

Shipping: Expedited via FBA

I have checked my Payments & Refunds Report, but I can’t see any additional fees or adjustments that would justify such a high refund amount. I’m also concerned whether this is a system error, a customer return abuse case, or if Amazon has automatically applied some additional refund I wasn’t aware of.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? If so, were you able to resolve it with Amazon support, and did they provide any explanation?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Had it a couple of times in the past. On both occasions Amazon told me it was a gesture of goodwill.

On both occasions when I raised it with Seller Support I got a full reimbursement.

If I was you I would raise a ticket with SS to query it and ask for a reimbursement.

Likely a gesture of goodwill. I had a similar refund on a £5 item. Contacted the customer (which I think you're advised against) and turned out that the courier had dropped their parcel (on camera) and a jar had smashed spoiled all the items.

Amazon gave the customer a refund for all items plus an extra credit. Queried with Amazon who immediately reimbursed me. Very dodgy practices on Amazons part

Thanks for bringing this up. Where did you find that Amazon has refunded the extra amount?

Was it on the actual order page or on a specific report that I need to check?

The same thing happened to me...Amazon should surely require our permission for this?
